Мартирологія в музейному просторі: репрезентація досвіду Другої світової війни в Польщі та Україні

Abstrakt

The article examines the martyrological tradition of museum representation of the World War II historical experience in Polish and Ukrainian museums. The study analyzes the activities of the Central Museum of Prisoners-of-War in Łambinowice as a unique European institution that represents the memory of victims of both Nazi (1939–1945) and Communist (1945–1946) totalitarian regimes. A comparative analysis of Polish and Ukrainian experience in the museumification of memorial sites is conducted using the examples of Lviv museums – the National Museum-Memorial of Victims of the Occupation Regimes 'the Prison on Łącki Street' (2009) and the Memorial Museum of Totalitarian Regimes 'Territory of Terror' (2014–2016). Common features of these institutions are identified: the use of authentic spaces of former prisons and camps, application of modern scenographic solutions, and focus on representing the crimes of the Nazi and Soviet regimes. The relevance of Polish martyrological experience for Ukrainian museology in the context of the Russian-Ukrainian war is substantiated, particularly regarding the documentation of inhumane treatment of prisoners of war and the creation of memorial spaces for forming cultural memory.
