The article discusses the creative individuality of Petro Franko (1890–1941), a representative of the Franko literary dynasty and the youngest son of Ivan Franko. Petro Franko, in his roles as a publisher, artist, translator, and memoirist, continued the legacy of his father. The research is based on historical and documentary sources, including archival and library findings. The scholarly novelty lies in the reinterpretation of Petro Franko’s Franko studies, which have been out of researchers’ attention for some time due to the prohibition of promoting the heritage of Ivan Franko’s son in Soviet literary studies. Petro Franko’s life was abruptly ended by the totalitarian Stalinist regime, resulting in a limited literary legacy. Many creative ideas were left unfinished. Despite two voices in Petro Franko’s Franko studies – the ‘filial’ (pre-Soviet period) and the ‘director’s’ (Soviet occupation period) – his Franko studies had its peculiarities. The son had the ambition and mission to complete what his father had initiated. A pragmatic approach to Ivan Franko’s creative legacy allowed the son to release the classic’s literary works. Simultaneously, Petro Franko’s Franko studies reveal the son’s strong creative inclination towards intermedial dialogue: the desire to go beyond literature and adapt Ivan Franko’s works for the theater and cinema. His memoirs, 'Ivan Franko Zblyzka', initiated a family memoir discourse about the father, emphasizing Franko as a ‘whole man’ and offering an intimate perspective on the writer.
